Cathedral of Saint Paul

Summit and Selby Avenues
St Paul, MN

Builder: Aeolian-Skinner, Opus 1398 (1963)
Manuals: 4
Ranks: 42
Stops: 35
Pipes: 2637
Action: Electro-pneumatic

See also entry for E. M. Skinner organ in the sanctuary.

Notes: 42 ranks added in the gallery, with front organ's 31 ranks playable from the gallery 4-manual console. A blind system at the chancel console connected to the gallery pistons, but the organist at the front console could not see which stops were pulled in the gallery organ. (This feature remained a constant irritant until the Quimby installation of two identical consoles.) There was not enough money to complete casework in the gallery, leaving the facade looking unfinished. For this vast space, even the combination of the two organs did not make a big impact.
